Our on-going quarterly teleconference series supports individual and agency awareness and compliance with the latest critical guidelines and CMS expectations related to OASIS data collection.  Upcoming dates are:

What information is covered?

Each teleconference will cover any new OASIS data collection guidance, as well as other documents, resources and data set changes from the previous quarter. Unique application-based scenarios will be presented and reviewed to demonstrate and reinforce critical guidance. Time will be allotted on each call for participant Q&A. 

For April 18, 2018, the following topics will be covered:

  • Overview of the Newly Proposed OASIS-D for 2019
  • Simplifying the Timely Initiation in Care Measure – Changes based upon the New CoPs
  • OASIS GG Items – Practice and Preparation for 2019

Who should participate?

Agency Educators, OASIS Auditors, Quality Improvement Teams, Data Collectors, Consultants, OASIS Education Coordinators, Clinical Managers and current and future COS-Cs. 

 

CE Information
 
trueThis workshop is approved for 1.5 CE hours (nursing) and is co-provided by Home Care Institute, LLC. HCI is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. CE credits will be issued to Live and Audio participants who complete application requirements within one week of the live Teleconference date. Purchases of past teleconference audio recordings are not eligible for CE credit.

LINDA KRULISH

Linda, a physical therapist in home care since 1988, is a nationally recognized expert on OASIS, the Hospice Item Set and quality improvement. She provides oversight and subject matter expertise to manage CMS’s OASIS Q&A Mailbox, CMS’s Home Health Quality Mailbox, and CMS’s Hospice Quality (HIS) Mailbox contracts. She also serves CMS and its contractors, assisting in quality measures development, data set refinement, and maintenance and updating of the Guidance Manuals and other key provider education resources for the Hospice Item Set and OASIS. She served as the President and a Founding Member of the OASIS Certificate and Competency Board (OCCB), and continues to oversee the COS-C Exam as Chair of the Exam Review Task Force. Linda is President and Founder of OASIS Answers, Inc.

Rhonda, a registered nurse, has been in home care since 1979 as a direct care provider, intake and utilization manager, quality improvement coordinator, and staff educator. Since 1999, she has developed and conducted provider training nationally related to OASIS, diagnosis coding and regulatory compliance. Rhonda specializes in medical record review to identify OASIS and coding accuracy and to determine compliance with the Medicare Home Health and Hospice benefits. She currently provides content expertise to the CMS OASIS Q&A Mailbox Contract. She holds both the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) and is an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM trainer. Rhonda is a Senior Consultant with OASIS Answers, Inc.

MARIAN ESSEY

Senior Director of Quality & Innovation

Marian is a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience in home health, hospice, and community-based services. Marian served as the Director for the Home Health Quality Improvement Organization Support Center (QIOSC) for Pennsylvania's Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), and served as Director for the 2007 Home Health Quality Improvement National Campaign to reduce avoidable hospitalizations. As a recognized expert in developing and supporting quality improvement activities at the local, state and national levels, Marian has served on numerous CMS technical expert panels and quality improvement committees. She currently supports OAI’s Post Acute Care initiatives, including providing subject matter expertise to OAI’s CMS contract work and OAI’s provider quality initiatives. Marian holds the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) designation and serves as Senior Director of Quality and Innovation with OASIS Answers, Inc.

DESIREE WINTERHALTER

Desiree is a registered nurse with a background in home health, hospice, and care management. Desiree has experience managing a Customer Service/Referral Intake Department for a large multi-state home health and hospice organization, serving as Clinical Nurse Liaison supporting patients transitioning between settings, and providing care management services by implementing new models of care delivery as a Practice-Based Care Manager for a large integrated delivery financing system (IDFS). She currently provides content expertise to the CMS Home Health Quality Help Desk, and supports the CMS Home Health Value Based Purchasing Contract work. Desiree holds the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) designation and serves as a Clinical Consultant for OASIS Answers, Inc
