A TWO DAY ICD-10-CM DIAGNOSIS CODING WORKSHOP - FOCUSING ON CHAPTER SPECIFIC GUIDELINES AND THE CHANGES FOR 2018
Diagnosis coding is an acquired skill based on knowledge, practice and process. The foundations of coding are built upon the current Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and the ICD-10-CM Code Book, regardless of care setting. Successful coders read clinical documentation and assign appropriate diagnosis codes for the Plan of Care, OASIS and billing following the directions of the guidelines and the code book. This 2-day, 13-hour workshop is for individuals who have a good working knowledge of the coding conventions, general guidelines and know how to navigate a coding manual. The highly interactive workshop is presented by an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM coding instructor who guides attendees smoothly through multiple exercises and application scenarios. By interpreting and applying coding guidelines and manual instructions appropriately, attendees practice accurate code assignment for a wide range of patient conditions frequently encountered in the home health setting. Attendees leave the workshop armed with newfound coding confidence and a handout with current coding resource documents and extra practice scenarios.
PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP
MANDATORY! Please obtain a current ICD-10-CM code book. The code book MUST be brought to class to practice the process of coding. If needed, the current version of an ICD-10-CM code book is available from OASIS Answers at www.oasisanswers.com/products or by calling 425-868-2304.
We highly recommend a review of pages 8 - 18 of the "ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting for 2018" found at http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/icd/10cmguidelines_fy2018_final.pdf prior to class.
