OASIS Transportation Item: What’s New with E2?

by Lori A Marmon, MBA, PT, CHS-C COS-C

With the transition to OASIS-E2, home health providers will see A1250 – Transportation replaced by A1255 – Transportation. While the general “tone” remains the same, there are several coding updates to keep in mind. The change is more than the item number change for clinicians to be aware of as they begin collecting data with the OASIS-E2 version (beginning April 1, 2026). Here are just a couple of the changes clinicians need to be aware of when completing A1255.

Time point change:
A1250 – OASIS-E1  A1255 – OASIS-E2
Collected at SOC, ROC and Discharge  Collected at SOC and ROC only
Response Specific Instructions:
A1250 – OASIS-E1  A1255 – OASIS-E2
Check all response options that apply  Only check one response option

Even when changes are considered “minor”, attention to detail can assist clinicians in coding with accuracy and efficiency.

To take a complete side by side look at this item’s transition as well as other changes clinicians should pay attention to ensure accuracy with coding of OASIS-E2, check out the April Quarterly OASIS Update, 4/22/26. Register now to join us for this upcoming webinar.
